And you know how this feels because?...you're on the internet asking this question. I'm sure you're not experiencing this either.

Its all because of our obsession with tv. We watch programmes and adverts and are convinced that we need to change, to model our lives around what we're shown. you watch sex and the city and think she's a normal girl. she goes on a date every night with different, beautiful and charismatic men. she seems to work about 2 hours a week but has an amazing flat and buys new minolo blahniks all the time. you think "i am as good as that character. i deserve to have her exciting life. i deserve to be able to buy minolo blahniks".but im sure if my week and the week of my freinds was compressed into a 50 minute tv slot itd be a bit more exciting than it seems to be. and who even cares about fancy shoes?
overexposure to unrealistic ideals is obviously going to make people feel dissatisfied. it takes a very strong person to realise that the ideals are fictional and know whats truly important, how lucky they are. the fact that so many people are like this must show you that its not entirely their, our, fault. its cultural programming at its worst. but thats how they sell make us buy stuff, convince us that our existences are ultimately unfulfilling and what would make everything better is.... a new lexus! and selling is what makes the western world go round...

America has become a possesion based society...he who has the most wins. TV shows such as MTV Cribs not only display this in extreme fashion, but is also the main perpetrator in putting the idea of possesions and arrogance into societies mind. If you can't have one up on your neighbor then you suck! Finding the resolution to this problem is the real question...

If people could just be happy with the basics, have no fear of death, have no fear of God maybe sending them to hell and live by the golden rule...the world would not be in the shape it is in. I do have it good in Canada and I hope the best for you. I cannot help from where I was born. Cheers.

maybe he meant they have better values? we have it good but if we dont appreciate it, then what do you have ?
if my family are happy and safe then i can honestly say i am happy...it may sound simple, but its true
also, we are incredibly lucky, all of us reading this have a computer in front of us, time on our hands to write, and the ability to express an opinion, so we are indeed, lucky

There's no point caring, because in 100 years it will be different people in different positions and nobody will remember or care about us.
