I went to a meeting this morning at 10am. My truck started fine,
drove perfect...even told me I needed to get more fuel. I come out of my meeting an hour later and it won't start. Won't even turn over. Tried jumping it, no dice. I came home to read about the PATS and it mentioned if the THEFT light flashes, you got a bad key/bad ignition ring connection. So naturally, I go back to my truck, which is sitting at a pizza place, and looked for symptoms of PATS malfunction. Nothing, nothing is/was wrong with my truck. The lights work, all of the diagnostics come on, fuel pump comes on, it even dims the lights when I try to start it. I'm so mad I'm shaking.
What do I do? It seems so easy to fix, but everything I have tried hasn't worked.
Regards,
Sean

Well looks like your starter is going well gone bad. You may try to start the vehicle, thorough the solenoid. you will see a large black unit, on your inner fender. It has the Battery cable going to it. You will see 2 large wires going to it, and one small one. If you place a large screwdriver in between them 2 nut"Carefully since it will create some sparks" you should hear the starter engage. Make sure the emergency brake is on and the vehicle is in park or neutral.... If the starter turns when you do this, then you need to see if the small wire going to the solenoid is getting, power when the "Switch is being cranked" So while some one turns the ign switch to the start position, check for power at that cable. If the is power, then the unit you used to turn the starter, "The Solenoid" is Bad. If their is no power to the small wire, then the problem is at the ignition switch.. Hope this helps.. Will.

Could be a bad starter ground.Crawl under it with a set of jumper cables an connect the black on to the starter mount. Then connect the other black end to the frame--make sure you get a good connection at both ends.It should start cuz you just grounded the starter. If it does start remove the starter and clean the mounting surfaces on the starter and the trans. If it dont start locate the solenoid on the passenger fender under the hood.MAKE SURE the trucks in park. Turn the key on then jump the two big wires on the solenoid,it should start,if it does replace the solenoid,if not remove starter an replace it. Hope this helps

If the lights dim when you try to start it, but don't go out all the way, and the starter doesn't crank, it's probably a bad starter. The lights wouldn't dim if the interlock or solenoid was the problem, and they wouldn't stay on at all if the battery or a bad connection was the trouble.

connect an OBDII code reader to the car ( a connector under the dash on the left side of the driver) and see if it gives an error code. you could also try dis-connecting the (+) red cable from the battery for about a 1/2 hous and re-connecting it. the power down clears the car computer

did you verify the gasoline William ? it sounds to me like the engine isn't getting sufficient gasoline to save it going ! do a rigidity try on the gasoline ! it stands out as the gasoline filter out or the gasoline regulator !
