I am reading the "Odyssey" by homer. And in the book it says "Speak to me, Muse, of the adventurous man who wandered long after he sacked the sacred citadel of Troy"... i am totally lost, can some one please tell me what "Muse" is and just give me a discription... tx, i have this thing due in an hour, and i need to finish it up.

In Greek mythology, the 9 muses are goddesses of inspiration. They each have a different area of "specialization": Calliope was the muse of epic poetry, Clio was the muse of history, Thalia of comedy, etc.

In the passage you quotes, Homer is begging one of the muses (probably Calliope, since he was writing an epic, or Clio, since it was historical epic), to inspire him to write about Odysseus/Ulysses, the "adventurous man".

Muse is where your inspirations come from what inspires you, guides you, ie.... write poetry, music,art etc...that little voice in your head
