Well, vaseline is petroleum jelly, while emolium creams all contain white paraffin and liquid paraffin. They have different uses, ie: vaseline acts as a moisture barrier and emollium cream is used to treat eczema.
But as for petrol or paraffin, both are very harsh irritants and best not used while smoking.

Paraffin oil is used for oil heaters and gives of bad fumes.
Petrol is used for car fuel. Do not put either on your skin.
There are certain creams that contain a different kind of paraffin and those are ok to put on your skin.

Both paraffin and petroleum are carcinogenic (cancer causing) I wouldn't put either on my skin, nor breathe the fumes.

Petroleum is even suitable for baby skin, so I would guess petroleum, not petrol.

If they both contain oil, it'll make your face even greasier, which can cause breakouts, so i suggest you do not neither on. You ca n try Vaseline
