right now i'm leaning toward an IUD beacause i dont really have to do much with it for a few years but the risks (tearing/becoming imbedded into uterine wall) are kinda making it ify. anyone care to share any expirences with these methods of BC? thanks much

I have the Mirena IUD and love it. I have a friend who is using Nuvaring and she has put on a lot of weight since getting it. The only issue I had with the IUD was the off and on spotting for the first 6 months. I haven't had a real period since having it placed so that has been an extra bonus. I don't even know the thing is there.

I never tried the Nuvaring but I had an IUD for 4 years and LOVED it!! It really is so easy to deal with. Insertion is as painful as a regular pap, so no worries their. When I got it removed it hurt a little (1-10 scale - 10 being crying because of the pain - it was a 4) all u have to do is feel the end of the strings once a month after ur period (feels like 2 strands of fish line). I understand ur worry about putting something into ur body, but I highly recommend getting an IUD if you don't want to worry about children for 4 or 5 year.

I am on nuvaring now and was struggling with the same decision you are (ring or iud) a few months ago. I love nuvaring, it's really great. My ifrst choice was an iud, but i decided again one because of the cost (I wanted mirena), under my student health plan mirena wasn't covered and would cost me about 400$ (prices are different depending on where you live). I don't have 400 buck s to spare right now so I went with Nuvaring. You should know though, I have talked to my doc about IUDs extensively and the possibility of an IUD tearing your uterine wall is extremely low and, if at all, it usually happens during insertion, thus, while your doc is present. Nuva ring has its risks too, (same/similar to those of the pill) most b/c forms do so it's all about deciding which risks you're most willing to deal with.

My doctor advised against an IUD because it can cause cramping. She recommended Nuvaring; it's easy to use, but it does contain hormones, which you might or might not want.

maximum, yet not all, plans do hide start administration. some might have a separate deductible for prescriptions whilst others won't. in basic terms call your agent or the style on the returned of your identity card for advice on your plan.
