I think there ain't similar 'cause Dreamgirls is adapted from the 1981 Broadway musical of the same name, which itself is loosely based upon both the history of Motown act The Supremes and the evolution of American R&B music over the years. While Destiny's Child was formed in 1990 as a novelty group of pre-teen girls; by decade's end they had become a superstar female R&B vocal quartet. They later became a trio.
