Or, is it to influence the minds of young people?

Soaps are a huge problem in today's society because they help cause people to create drama in their lives. They do influence the minds of young and old alike, and they don't represent real life, but because of them, some people's real lives are resembling the soaps.

You know what they say there is nothing so queer as folk!
I think the thing with soaps is that if you are going to have an affair it has to be with someone that your wife/husband has to also know them because you only have a cast of say 30 people to play with and you are related in some way to half of them!
Lets face it people whether they are gay or straight are always putting it about the difference is in real life they have the sense not to do it on there own door step.

I used to spend a lot of time with friends in the gay community, and with the younger guys there is a lot of promiscuity as they're getting comfortable with their sexuality and trying to find the type of partners they like. With it, comes a lot of drama. In that sense, yes it sort of represents real life. Not all couples are like that, however.
