I am 37 weeks and would very much like to go into labor soon. My doctor says it is safe to deliver now and wouldn't stop me from labor, but he cannot induce me until 38to39 weeks. Perhaps there is a law or medical code? What are some "home remedies" that are safe to try. I'll try anything... but please, tell me what only about what you KNOW will work. I don't want to be on a goose chase at the store for things that are just wives tales.

Also, I am on limited activity- I'm on "rest" which means I don't have to be laying down in bed, but I am not supposed to be on my feet for any length of time other than absolutely necessary and also not supposed to have intercourse.

I guess I just want to add that the doctor has completely assured me that if I went into labor that everything would be fine! As a matter of fact, he has said that he wishes that I would hurry and go on my own! He is very sympathetic because
I have a seperated pubic bone (VERY PAINFUL) and severe swelling (I've been tested for toximia and pre-eclampsia- other than the bone pain, I'm completely healthy). I've been having contractions for weeks.

When I go into labor, there is risk that I will completely rip my pubic bone open. If I go full term, the baby will obviously be much bigger (I've had two 9lb babies) and if I can go this week, maybe she'll only be 7 or so...

The baby's health is not an issue. She is in great shape!

Nothing is 100% guarenteed to start labor, unless your body is ready to start.

My biggest warning is to stay away from Castor Oil. It's dangerous. What you do to your body, you do to your babys body as well. Forcing diarea on your body may also cause the baby to pass meconium, which can be inhaled at birth...or before and cause Meconium Aspiration...not a pretty thing!

Sex can sometimes start labor, because Semen contains prostaglandins. Prostaglandins cause the cervix to "ripen", or soften and prepare to open. Another great side effect is the fact that orgasms produce oxytocin, the hormone that causes contractions. So, between the two, there is a pretty good case for the cure for pregnancy.

Nipple stimulation causes the release of oxytocin, the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. In order to use this method for induction, you must stimulate the nipples for long periods of time. The usual recommendation is 15 minutes of continual stimulation on each nipple each hour for several hours. So, the amount of stimulation you may experience during intimacy, while nursing an older child, or while pumping your breasts while pregnant will not cause you to go into labor. The general recommendation on these activities is to abstain from them when your condition warrants doctor recommended pelvic rest. Please check with your practitioner before trying this.

There are two points on your body that will cause uterine contractions. They are always warned against during pregnancy, though they are widely believed to be another labor inducing method that will not work if you are not already ready to deliver. These points are about four finger-widths above the inner ankle on your calf, and in the webbing between your thumb and forefinger. You will know when you've found the spot because it will be very sore. You rub your calf, or pinch the webbing on your hand, in a circular motion for 30-60 second at a time, taking 1-2 minute breaks in between.

The best advice though is to walk. Get out and walk every day. Walking will help Braxton Hicks contractions to strengthen and become more productive. It also helps prepare your body for labor by strengthening it.

Nothing will work, if your body isn't ready, so have some patience and eventually, the pregnancy will come to an end.

hi there i dont think there are any certain methods to induce your labour with my first son sex worked for me and i was in labour withtin exactly 1hour afterwards, went to the hospital and they stopped the contractions, the same thing happened again exactly 1 hour after sex about a week later but that time i actually had my son a few hours later.
i am now 36 weeks pregnant with my second child and i can have the baby any time now my doctor said because i have dropped quite a bit but i have tried everything this time including castor oil, sex, walking, jogging lightly, pelvic floor excersises, accupressure, hot baths, hot baths with red wine, a certain laxative (cant remember the name a friend recomended it), cleaning myhouse non stop, vacuuming etc and as yet i have had no luck at all obviously the wants to come out but not when i want it to unfortunately.......
all i can suggest is either wait, when the time is right they will come out or just give anything a go , what works for one may not work for another and vice - versa.....
i ahve also tried nipple stimulation and to no avail..

with the problem you said you have at the moment with your pubic bone opening i have the opposite problem mine is touching at the middle causing pain and swelling of the muscles surrounding the swelling is also causing the muscles to tear away causing more pain the only way to stop it is to have the baby according to the doctor

Nipple stimulation is a good one, also my sister is into all that herbal stuff and she told me to stay away from parsley seeds and celery seeds, (I am only 17 weeks pregnant). She has a paper that says they induce labor, also my Aunt is a massage therapist and she says there are certain spots on your back that if you massage will put you into labor.

Sex is the best but obviously if you're not supposed to then don't, a friend of mine drank raspberry leaf tea and she went into labour at about 38 weeks I think, good luck
