Yes, and the brits know it, the rising population of catholics is estimated to outnumber the protestants by 2020, so the brits are laying the road, already the Irish govt. had a say in certain issues, so the sooner the better

William you are asking the wrong question mate. Whether the Brits pull out or not as you call it is up to the people of North Ireland. There have been several referendums on the matter and all the results so far have been in favour of the Union. I'm sure the British Government would only be too happy for a united Ireland again, but at the moment the majority of the population wouldn't allow it. It's called democracy.
I am sure however that eventually it will be united again be patient it will get there in the end.

why blame us brits. you should be asking the people of northern ireland what they want and im sure a fair ammount will tell you they want to be part of the uk. if catholics dont like it then they have the rest of ireland to move to. yet again another people blame us for there biggited opinions of each other.

this is not about the british empire NORTHERN IRELAND is part of the make up of the united kingdom so how can that be attributed to empire ( it is act of union read it)

Not sure. I wouldn't lay this all at the feet of the UK govt either. The majority in No. Ireland still wants to remain part of the UK. Until a mandate is reached among the people living there, I don't see Ireland becoming one nation, one island.

I doubt it. The differances between the two nations are just too great.
Also the People of the North are not interested in Union with the south, except those who have emigrated North. Especially now the Republic has gone over to the Euro, the price differance between the two states is great and those from the North get a brilliant exchange rate so goods are cheaper in the south once you compare prices etc.

There are more people in northern Ireland on benefits, than anywhere else in the UK,a united Ireland would be in the best interest of the UK.

Ireland's never been united. Before the British came it was made up of different tribes fighting each other.

hopefully one day Ireland will be united, but look at the world, when ever the Brits(ie English) get involved there are wars as the Brits don't want to listen what the people want.
