Data capturing is a process whereby records (Data) are entered into a software package (e.g. MS Excel) so that they can be analyzed and information can be extracted from the Data.

E.g. of data capturing is entering details (Name, Sex, Department, Salary) of Employees in a company into a software (MS Excel) so that you could know the Employee with the biggest pay or because you want to see the details of employees in alphabetical order, etc.

MS Excel is usually mentioned because it’s good for calculating, analyzing data and developing charts. Also, it can be automatically uploaded into a Database.

Data capturer does the entering of these details into the particular software.
