DONT use fabric softener, DONT dry them in a tumble dryer. The aim is to get them to absorb more, therefore they must be slightly rougher texture. They will feel a bit harder, but will be much more absorbent

This might sound crazy but adding a cup of salt into the washing machine drum next time you wash them, and washing them at a 40 degree wash with out softener will give you lovely absorbent towels. I am not joking this really does work, give it a try.

Use the coolest setting on your dryer, because if they have a band the hot setting will shrink the band. Put a cap full of fabric softener in the dryer with them for about 15 minutes. But as someone else said if they are cheap crap towels they won't absorb

Wash them with no fabric softener. Washing them on a 60 degree wash might help too.
The manufacturers load them with fabric softener so they feel nice and soft in the shop, but it coats the surface and makes them less absorbant. Then tumble dry them and they will fluff up nicely.

I assume they are 100% cotton towels. Wash them on the hottest setting in your washing machine and use a good conditioner that does not have any oily scent. Tumble dry them and take them out as soon as they are dry. Lightly fold them so their fibres are not crushed. If they are not OK, buy microfibre towels next time.

I was going to suggest washing them, but since you have already done that I haven't a clue. Washing them a couple of times normally does the trick for me unless they are just crap towels

lol, as stupid as this is gonna sound, and how I hate to give away embarrasing but succesful secrets - Iron them after they have been washed and dried naturally. Works everytime, without fail for me. I set it quite high and test to make sure it wont burn or damage the towels and go over them a few times.

Don't use fabric softener it makes them less absorbent, dry them out on the line they might not be soft when you use them but they will be absorbent and the more you use them the better they will get.

Mmm, i know you have washed them, but did you use fabric softner? Try washing without and dry them on a radiator or clothes horse rather than putting them in the dryer.
