I use chikka text to send messages to my friends' cell from Philippines and the USA . Check chikka's website to find out what countries and cellular/phone providers they are partners with . Chikka text is free , you are given 20-30 credits for a 24 hr period but if your textmate replies then you get another 1 point per reply . Also try www.sms.ac .

Try Google SMS service, but it works for USA only.
