It happens that people can't guess if I am a man or a woman when talking to me on the phone. I'm a guy who wants to make my voice sound more macho-like and frankly speaking - I have no idea what to do. I know for sure that radio speakers train their voices to sound more "deeply" and more "manly". What should I do to make my voice sound better?

Study the speech habits of american blacks.

I have noticed that many dark-skinned males in america talk very softly because, in fact they have a high-pitched voice. (think mike tyson squeaks)

Few pesons of other descent seem to do so to that extent. In general, you want to keep your volume down, and puff your chest out a bit, and try to "talk from your chest" so that your chest vibrates when you talk.

But volume is definitely key. Can't tell you how many times I've had barry manilow whispers hide steve urkel yells.

Try to open the muscles in your throat. If you do it correctly, then your adams apple should move down a bit, also, try to talk softly and concentrate on enunciating your words properly. Speaking more slowly also helps.
