Do the news agencies in countries like australia, canada, new zealand continue to talk about war and terrorism or is it more peacful to watch the news in those countries compared to USA?
I dont mean any harm to the other countries, i would prefer the news not continue to talk about such horrible problems and i think it would be nice to live somewhere where this issues arent as relevant.
I dont see those countries i mentioned engaged in war so im hoping it would be nicer to live there.

what about War and Terrorism type concerns, do Canada, New Zealand and Australia worry about those?
I understand that all news is local, but the USA has more military fighting wars so i figured other countries might be more removed from the problem.

No country is problem-free
USA has gay lesbian issues, abortion issues, jobless issues, Disaster Management Issues.
Australia has immigration issues like the USA.
So all the countries has its own issue but when you are living outside that country and watching international news they don't talk about the local problems because it is of no major issue to others.
Going to other countries in search of peace is not a great idea.
It helped?

I believe other countries do have real problems in a way where we don't respect each other as a United Nation in terms of unity. The reason why I believe so is because we still fight wars till now with other countries and we just cant stop being enemies. For example the country IRAQ? Why do we have to waste our dam money and time for a nation who never learns from Terrorism? Why help that country? To the perspective of other countries are having real problems because politics are majority played consistently where its it truly defines the true management of our country. It is very relevant about general issues each country has but very difficult to overcome those difficulties in reality. We just need to get together and work as one unified nation of honor.

I am only domestically traveled, and that's relative. I have often wondered about the culture, news, tv shows, movies, slang, world views, views about the U.S., about themselves, of other countries. But, if I ask I never get an answer. I thought it meant I was offending someone, when that is so far from the case I can't relay it strongly enough, or kindly enough. I really am interested. This is an excellent question. Being an American, and a naturally curious one at that, I will be the first to admit that what we know of other countries is so minimal that we might as well have our heads in the sand. There's something going on in our culture, as we don't learn about it or ask. It's like we really do have the mentality, we're Americans. What planet are you from? Me, me, me. We speak one language and we wouldn't know that other countries existed if we weren't fighting with them or allied with some against the others. This may sound harsh, but that isn't far from how it is. So, I google other countries. But it isn't the same as getting information first hand. Again, good question.

When I am in Poland every year, and I watch their evening news casts, I see practically the same things that I do here. They report on the war in Iraq, terrorist threats in other countries, and their own domestic issues.
What they don't do is sensationalize everything. We have tabloid journalism here. If you want to watch a more balanced news report, try PBS's broadcast of the BBC World News or their news from Jim Leher. Both are much more interesting than anything offered by network or cable news.

Thousands of our Australian troops are in the middle east as well as many other countries around the world either fighting or peace keeping. I think the problem with America is your media. You need to find some way to connect with the rest of the world and not rely on your media for information.
Australia is a beautiful country, we would love to have you here. Come for a visit, I think you would be very impressed!

The US has the population base and the power to have the greater problems. We are all connected to you, esp. CANADA. Canada really is in a ivory tower situation. Our closeness is like being a so called good brother who stays out the bad situation in a lot of cases. The US is unbelivably charitable to (privately) other countries when disaster strikes.
It isnt this simple but that is it in a nutshell.

The Canadian military has lost more men in Afghanistan this last year than they did in the five years previous, so there is more attention paid to military matters...however, in most cities (other than Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and maybe Ottawa),once you are past the first few "big" stories, they can get very rural very quickly...lots of breathless "almost happeneds..."...check out some of our news at www.Canada.com or www.yahoo.ca
