Gran will pay from her assets until they "spend down." then, the government pays.

Family members may, and are encouraged to, contribute - especially for the non-supplied conveniences and small luxuries - TV, telephone, nicer furnishings - but once again, the main cost is provided by government.

The best thing you can do for Gran is visit her often - 5 minutes daily is much better than several hours once a week or fortnight.
