It's much better, and totally possible to have a well liked person who gets the job done. Either extreme will cause tension in the workplace.

most people will choose the well liked person before the hard worker. It's a fact, studies have been done on it and it's been proven in my own job over and over again.

Somebody who gets the job done is much more important. If they are likeable then so much the better.
