1st of all let me tell you that Dhoni hasn´t scored all of his runs on flat pitches. He was the top scorer for India during the South Africa ODI series, he scored one 50 and one 45+.Did well in South Africa in the Test series as well as he scored 35 and 48 in the 2nd Test. In the 1st one he could only scored 5 and 17 in the 2nd Innings but, that 17 of his was the 2nd top score of the Indian Innings. In West Indies, though he couldn´t get as many runs as we would have expected him to, but the 1st and only match that India won in the ODI series, was won due to him. Required run-rate was well over 6 and he come out and scored 17 off just 11 balls to get the score closer before Kaif hit the winning runs with one ball to go. And then in the 4th match, he scored 47 not-out. His only respectable score in the West Indies was 79 in the 2nd Test. He should have been given out as the foot of the fielder was touching the rope when he took Dhoni´s catch. But then, it was only scored off, around, 55 balls and helped India to build a formidable score to declare their Innings. a 17 in the last Test which co-incidentally, like South Africa, was the 2nd highest score of Indian Innings and was very important. And as far as other countries are concerned. Well, apart from these two countries he went to Zimbabwe to play the Tri-series against New Zealand and the home team, and performed excellently. It was only his 3 series. In Sri Lanka he couldn´t really do well apart from one Innings that he played against West Indies during the Tri-series. Technically I would say he isn´t too strong but he is very, very positive in his approach. And to me, that´s all that´s needed. And he plays well while chasing. He has got the record of highest-individual-score in the 2nd Innings, 183* (- not-out). And if he performs in the World Cup, he should get entire credit. I don´t no why people are saying that this time around there are going to be flat pitches! How can you say that? Past records shw that any score in excess of 230 is very, very save. If now they are changed, how can one say this? Have anyone from here, Yahoo! Answers, assessed any pitch? No news from anyone how the wickets are going to be but, you all are saying otherwise. And if he hits few sixes that would mean that grounds are small. No! Not at all! Has Dhoni hit all of his sixes on small grounds.

So, stop suspecting his abilities and please back him and hope he scores.

I hope you liked my answer.

Ya thats true, he doesnt have best of the technique, but still not good, he have high back life, just like lara, from where he is able to hit such big sixes.

Nower days Windies pitches are not that different from india's, its almost the same, unline in 1980's at that time wickets in windies were lightning fast, it has completely changed now, so thats not gonna trouble the indian, if it would have been a fast n bouncy wkt it would have been a diff. case.

If you r talking bout his ability to bat in pressure situation, i think he's one of the best present in indian line up, yuvraj is another guy how plays well under pressure. Dhoni also got lot of appraise from chappell of this ability, he said dhoni could be the answerto aussie's Michael Bevan. Thats what he says.

It would be really exciting to watch dhoni in his first w cup, i am sure you r gonna see some of his huge sixes, which you might not have seen till now + the stadium there are small in size.

i dont think dhoni is a technically sound batsmen.. he just has got a lovely hand-eye co ordination and a very powerful arm to add firepower to his shots.. its just the fear factor he has induced in the bowlers that has helped.. but as long as he scores for his team, this wont be taken into account.. but the moment he fails he will be labelled as a moron.. simple..
