Polyester is not like cotton like the above answerer suggested - polyester is more akin to plastic, hence the name "polyester" ("poly" refers to the material being made up of chains of an oil based chemical, "ester"; it's the same as "polyethelyne" is a material that is made up of chains of oil based chemical "ethelyne"). It can be made to have a satin like finish, but it is essentially plastic.
And as with all plastics, polyester does not tolerate heat very well (hence always iron on low), not very good at letting the skin breathe (hence you always feel a bit sweaty under polyester clothing), and poorly made polyester fabrics can feel rough.

Polyester is a man-made fabric generally like cotton, although it could have a sheen and be satiny. Chiffon is a very sheer, see-through fabric usually used layered over the top of another fabric if you don't want the end result to be transparent.
Polyester is man made, yes...but it's not like plastic! It is made as a cheap alternative to cotton, and is also mixed with cotton (polycotton) and commonly used to make bedsheets.

Hi
Polyester is quite a cheap material it is used to make cheaper clothes but i personally dont really like the feel of it.
Chiffon is what my wedding dress was made from, it is quite light and flowy.
Neither are very much like satin as they are quite matt really.Try google it may bring up pics!
Hope this helps!

Polyester is a mixture of fabrics, its the fabric they use for cheap black trousers.
Chiffon is soft thin material almost whispy like.
satin is not very nice, its got a shine to it on one side and the other side is dull.
