Hi there,

A lot of the answers so far are from very confused individuals.

Whilst it is correct that the files you mention CAN be known as legitimate Windows files, they are names also abused by malware creators in order to make their infections appear genuine and avoid detection / deletion.

For example, here's some information on different variants of the isass.exe and svchost.exe files:

isass.exe:
http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/ssDDFD480495/ISASmore.html

svchost.exe:
http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/ssDGHC1864/SVCHmore.html

As you will see, there are MANY versions of these files - some good, some bad.

The only fullproof way of knowing whether these are genuine or not is by installing a program that can monitor the behavior of these files to recognise which are malicious and which are legitimate.

I would strongly recommend downloading the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove any malware infections free of charge.

Both of them are legitimate windows programs... but it's possible that the ones on your PC may include virus / trojan programs with the same name. There may be lots of copies of svchost.exe running at teh same time, it's normal...

do NOT delete them. Get a virus scanner and scan your PC. If you delete the real programs, Windows will stop working.

Try using this program I have it on the link.

When you download it don't save it in your HD, save it on thumb drive, and run it there, that's important.

Make sure to disconnect from Internet when running this program

Try to disable system restore temporarily. That's in the system properties. Right click your My computer icon on your desktop then select properties, system restore tab is there, check the box to turn it off.

Now run this program "It's called Stinger"

Reason for this is so that Trojan or any virus could not modify the results.

After cleaning then run Ad-aware for spyware remover.
Just download the personal version it's free.

Yo Dude,
You are talking SYSTEM programs here -- DO NOT DELETE or DISABLE these programs or you are in for one Smashingly sorry trip down doo daa lane !!!
They are running in the background for a freaking reason--- that's what they do-- not ALL of what your system does happens on your screen here !!
If you are experiencing slow PC operations it is more likely that you are in need of added RAM on your system--- or that you have too many programs attached to your startup menu that are kicking off on you and taking systems' resources !!

But, whatever the deal is-- drop this idea that you're going anywhere but under if you go disabling SYSTEM'S programming !!!

There are Windows Services but some Torjons can create similar exe's folloing the Antivirus and Antispywares in detecting them.

Update your Antivirus and Antispyware defintions and run a complete scan and the bad files would be caught and removed.

If you still need help you can get back to me. :)
