Plasma is a state of matter (see reference). Other states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. Physics is a science that deals with the fundamental laws governing nature. Put it together and Plasma Physics is a science that deals with the fundamental laws of plasma.

Plasma is ionized gas that can be relatively cold of hot enough to melt steel.
