i have a internal modem and have problem about it . please see details?

Question

when i want to connect to internet . i receive theis message:"the modem is already in use or not configured property...". and when i query my modem in device manager i receive this messgae: "the port could not be opened...".
i'm very angry for this problem.please help me.please

The two main features of any internal modem is the port designation, - COM1 thru COM4 (typically stops at 4) and the interrupt 4,3.

For steps to follow, - disable COM2 in the BIOS for the motherboard, let the modem take it. See if theres' any funky software that needs to run for this modem, - other than the simple comm. drivers. You really want to have the modem has COM 2 interrupt 3, -if at all possible. Things really get confusing when the modem is COM3 interrupt 4, and COM1 is using interrupt 4 also.

That should get you started.

You have some software that is using your modem. Say you have Winfax installed on your system. The winfax software would use the Internal modem and start the incomming fax service.

So when your Internet Connection tries to use the Internal Modem the Winfax wont allow you to take it.

If its not Winfax it would be some other communication program.

If you cant find the program try uninstalling and reinstalling the modem.

no prob. just reboot ur Pc to end all process
if still prob. persist den see which process is usin ur modem from Task Mangr n end dat process...

if still it wont works den simply Uninstall ur Modem n den Reinstall it.......n u will surely be out of dat

There is something wrong with your internal modem, I suggest you buy an external one 2.5 MB internet is dirt cheap, and is extremely fast.
