Do monkeys actually like bananas?

Well, most monkeys will eat bananas, but it's a misconception that their diet is based mainly on bananas and they will go crazy for them. Fact is, that most monkeys are frugivorious and thus eat fruits in general. However, there are also folivorous (leaf-eating) monkeys. I don't think they will have much use for bananas.
Most monkeys will eat fruits, nuts, arthropods and some enjoy a little bunch of meat once in a while.

Yeah they do, monkeys probably eat bananas because thats what usually grow in trees and thats where they usually are up in trees and away from predators.
