I don't know what the last girl was talking about, forget everything that she said she is wrong. I have been working at AE since fall 2003 and I think the staff hated her bc back in 2000 the AE employees would get 50% off clothing, but now we only get 40%. And that is a complete lie that you have to wear current clothing, the company likes it when you do but its not forced I wear other brand clothing while I am working all the time. Its a good company to work for they are customer friendly and always push the employees/ managers to always interact with customers and push new merchandise. Or if your not doing that then you are filling stock from the back room on the front floor. Managers work 8 hours a day 5 days a week usually 9-5 or 2:30-10:30 depending on what time your mall opens and closes and what time of the year it is.
Overall I have enjoyed working with the company they are extremely strick about the floor set though, if you ever do one make sure that it looks exactly the same right down to a wrinkle on the jeans. But it is a great and fun place to work at there is never a dull moment.

Way back in the day (2000), I was a sophomore in high school and I took a job as a sales person at American Eagle. I worked there for about six months. The truth is that as far as higher end retail stores go, it's better than most. I've heard horror stories about Abercrombie and Hollister. I've heard that Abercromie's employee handbook says 'do not talk or associate with the customer- Abercrombie sells itself' That's a very poor way to run a business and might be why Abercrombie was a fast fad. American Eagle is much more consumer friendly.

Here's the downside of AE. You have to wear their CURRENT IN SEASON clothing line. So wanna buy off the clearance rack for work clothes since the INSIST that you wear their brand to work? Forget about it. You have to buy the just came out stuff. And you only get a 20% discount. The pay is low so you're going to be spending the check on the clothes to wear to work.

In case you haven't noticed it's not an incredible investment as AE's clothes fall apart very easily and their shoes are awful about this. We always had shoes returned because they would literally fall apart sometimes just weeks after people bought them.

Goodluck.

No but my boyfriend used to. He said the job was cool except for the hours. They gave him very little hours a week. From 7-11 hrs. He hated that so he quit and looked for another job with more hours. But other than that, he enjoyed working there.
