Tell us the reason behind your urge to change your name. And how old are you? If you have good reasons, your parents should be convinced easily.

maybe these are some things you might want to consider before changing your name:
1) why do you want to change your name? because it is uncool or cliche? because it is traditional or ugly? because YOU THINK it downright sucks?
2) a name is something that your parents have given you during your birth and probably for a reason. it reflects how your parents want you to be. it gives you your identity and by changing it, you are changing your identity. People might no longer see you the same way as before, firstly because you went through all the long procedure and formalities of name-changing just because you didn't like your name? secondly, you are giving your parents the idea that the identity they gave you is not suitable for you and you absolutely HATE it and are not willing to accept it, so you have to change it.
3) There will be lot of problems after the name-changing process as well because people have to adapt to the name change and not many people might be able and willing to do so especially in school or work.
4) There is definately someone out there who would rather have your name than anything else.
5) Imagine having your own name but people calling you something else just because they like it or are plain rude. Your name has its uniqueness and speciality.
However, if you still want to change your name, to convince your parents, you have to explain to them why you are not satisfied by the name and identity given to you and how it is affecting you in your life.

You are better off changing your name once you turn 18. I don’t know what country you are but in the U.S., you have to petition for name change to legally change your name. until than try not to have criminal record so you won’t go through the process of explaining the reason for wanting to change your name. It would probably cost you around $120-250 to change your name. it is usually more expensive to have your name changed in a state supreme court than to have it done in local district courts.

I would suggest waiting until you are of age if you are still under your parents control. They gave you a name for a reason and maybe it has a special meaning why would you want to change that unless it really really bothers you.
Think about it then discuss it with your parents.

Don't change your name. My daughter did it when she turned 18. Now she regrets it (18 yrs. later). A new name won't change the person you are or how you feel about yourself. Just give yourself a nickname. Have your family and friends start using it. I know what your nickname should be; impatient.

how old are you?
i used to want to change my name but as i grew up i realised that my name is a part of me. mines really stupid but that doesn't bother me anymore. at least wait until you're old enough to change it without your parents permission, then you will be old enough to know if your really sure.

Unfortunately you can't. Have to wait untill you are 18 and then go to court and have it legally changed.
