The job is making you sick because it's not really what you want to do, believe me, I understand. I say, to you, apply for the job you really want and don't be afraid to let go of this one, because there is a job out there just for you, don't settle, that will just drive you batty (smile) Venture out even if it means a paycut, because as you go and do what you know you were created to do, the money will come, but for right now, just use this job as a means to get to your next job, in other words, you are just passing through, but use them to your advantage, learn everything you can possibly learn there(of course, you are sending your resume all over the internet) and don't give up until you get what your heart desires. Just think you are there for a little while and then on your way to your dream, Don't Stop Until You're Walking In It. The more you want it, the closer it is. I wish you your dreams.

1) What is it that you are unable to break free from?
2) WHY do you think you are unable to break free?
Ok first of all I know what you are going through and I know what you are feeling. I have been there before and it's not fun!
First of all, if you live alone, pay your own rent/bills/groceries, etc....don't quite UNTIL you find another job! If you quit and can't find something right away - well - then you'll be even more down.
Are you looking for other jobs? Sit down one night and really put a few hours into job hunting (craigslist.com, monster.com, local paper, etc....) - Get your resumes sent out.
Keep going into this job that you have now, (even though you hate it, at least you HAVE a job and some money coming in)
In the meantime, wait for those employers to call you back...the ones you sent your resume to.
Then once you get 2 or 3 or more calls, Pick a day where you can go on your interview. Then call into work sick. :)
Serious!
Once you get a job you can give your present employer the 2 weeks or leave.
Good luck!

If you are college educated flat out ask for a raise. You have been there six months, you feel under-paid, under-appreciated... ask them. If they get mad and threaten to lay you off let them! You could careless at this point and if they do they are a bad company to work for! If you have been working hard and you know that they can't live without you easily then ask.
Companies are often waiting for you to ask.
Happy workers are what I like and if giving you free coffee and donuts, low cost vacation packages, a word of encouragement or praise, bonuses at Christmas, or twenty-five cent to two dollar raises makes you happier I am willing to give it to you if you feel you are worth it and want to go on.
The question is do you have the guts and are you worth it?
You might feel better if you were being paid more.

You are only stuck there until you find another job. Get out and get busy sending resumes, thank you notes to your interviewers and follow up phone calls. You have to take on the responsibility of getting yourself out and searching for something better. If you don't act on your emotions, you will continue to be miserable and stuck in this job. It's all up to you now.

I think for some reason you are afraid to take a chance right now.
You seem to be a smart fellow but that first leap from your first job if this is your first job is the hardest as you get afraid to give up your feeling of security no matter how miserable you feel. hope this helps.

Don't feel bad about it at all, recently survey says most people are unhappy with their jobs and do nothing about it. Seriously.
But, if you want to make yourself feel better and find a new job at the same time, go to www.Monster.com , sign up, post your resume and people call and email YOU with jobs. Fixes finding a new job with little effort, and builds self-esteem as people want you :)

Start job hunting now, get your resume together, and when you have a job lines up- quit.
Tell no one that you are doing this, just do it.
