You must first receive a normal Bachelor's degree (pre-med) and then be accepted to Medical School. This requires another four years, after which you have earned a Doctorate in Medicine. Then at least a one year (perhaps two) internship where you actually demonstrate your knowledge. Finally you must pass your boards exam in order to practice by yourself.
