Yes I have. Around 1997 or so-so. I was doing alot of reading on the subject and tried an experiment based on my studies. The experiment was to give myself a pre-sleep suggestion to recall certain events. I also "pre-suggested" I dream about. The suggestions were to become "aware" or awake during my dream and siezed control of the event; therefore entering more into a lucid state and not sound asleep and "dreaming".
I "awoke" during the dream and realized I was actually dreaming; I laughed and said to myself, this is so cool, as I am in control and even acknowledged I was in control of everything that happened.
As this happened I told myself to snap awake within the dream and it happened very strangely. I was "awake" and looking at my room, I got up, walked threw several walls. As I did so, I could feel a slight friction and could feel as if I "sifted" through the wall as if "tearing" through it. I then wanted to go upward and it happened as fast as I thought the thoughts...I then found myself above my house by about 100 feet. I looked North and saw the lights in a nearby city, I looked down and saw my roof and a silver cord running from my stomach threw my roof into my bedroom; the cord was silver, yet transparent and was not straight but looked more like it was wavy like dangling a string from the roof and watching the wind blow it around.
I then returned to my body and went right back to sleep.
That's the whole tamale...
There is a device, I cannot recall who makes it, but the device is designed to help people wake up when they dream. This is to allow for someone to do as I did and experiment with OBE (Out of Body Experience). When people dream they go into REM or "Rapid Eye Movement"; In REM the device, which is attached like a small mask covereing your eyes, detects your eye movement and flashes a red light on-off for several seconds to attempt to alert you that your sleeping and dreaming. I understand that prior to your going to sleep, you place the mask over your eyes and suggest to yourself, that when you begin to dream, if you sense a flashing light "your dreaming"; then it is up to you to take control and try moving about and manipulating your movements.
I have never tried this, if you do, let us know how it worked out.
Try a search engine for "dreaming" and device or something like that and maybe you'll find the mask.

Good luck

I did, many years ago, and it was an experience I'll never forget. It was about a week after I had my first baby and I was very sick. I remember being up near the ceiling in the corner of the room. I was able to look down and see myself lying on the bed below, with my mom sitting beside me, so afraid. I was very calm, not frightened at all. I remember that I wanted to comfort her, to tell her that everything was alright. That's essentially all I remember, but it was a very vivid, very real experience. I'm so glad that this happened to me, because it has given me some peace and comfort about what might be expected at life's end. It eases things for the one leaving and for those left behind.

During an episode of sleep paralysis I felt like I was floating about two feet above the bed and looking down at myself.
I know now, it is hallucination that occurs during sleep paralysis but I didn't know then so it was very scary for me. If I never learned about this I would have always believed that I too had an out of body experience.

yes. a couple actually. and im not counting the lucid dreams i have. i managed the first one on accident. meditating one day and i hit a state of such relaxation that i found myself floating above my room and able to hear everything within a mile of me. the others came more and more randomly when i was meditating in class or at lunch, once even in church meditation. i find the easiest way to achieve a state of relaxation that deep is to breathe at a count of 7. breathe in fro 7, hold 7, release 7, repeat until you no longer think about ur breathing. this helps clear the mind.

Yes. I didn't try to once, I woke up and my room was this weird blue and the view from my bed was a few feet above were I was laying. Another time I tried it and I thought I dreamed being at my sisters house, but a few days later her roommate said she heard my voice in the hallway of their house that same night.

No, not that I am aware of. I have tried. I sometimes think I may have at night because if does not feel like a dream, but since I have not been able to do this at will, I am not sure.

When I was three years old I dreamt that I flew above our apartment building in Hawaii. It was very realistic and I can remember it vividly right now, 40 years later. Does that count?

I'd just bought this really crazily beautiful lampshade and had it hanging above my bed. It was just so amazing that I kept staring and staring at it thinking that there was never anything so wonderful and amazing when my boyfriend came in, jumped on the bed and...god! oh god! It was the shade it had to be, and he asked me to get married too. Thank you pure3design - what a lampshade.
