I saw them in Adelaide, South Australia, (free tickets) weeks after 9/11, they were great live, dont really know the ins and outs of band history, they just rocked on the night

When I first learned how to play the guitar I was into Creed (1998ish). I still think that Scott Stapp is a good song-writer and they had a great sound on their "One" album. A lot of ppl knock Creed but I still respect them. Mark Tremonti is one of the better guitarists out there.

Response to Ape Ape man: If you listen to some Creed songs that weren't singles, they have some good stuff. I wouldn't stack them up against Pearl Jam or even Audioslave, but it wasn't cheap material either.

I also saw them live in 2000 and they are a good live band. They played with Full Devil Jacket and Collective Soul. Best $40 on tickets I have ever spent.

well, i wouldnt give them too much credit for the free tickets thing. Because they know as well as we all do that a concert like that will only bring them more fame and more cd sales.

anyway, i think scott stapp has a really cool voice, the rest of the musicians are average at best. Scott can also write a good melody, and he is quite charismatic. For the modern hard rock fan they are a pretty cool band. i especially like the weathered cd. But i am more a fan of metal so i only listen to them on rare occaision. But i can admit talent when i see it, so i would say, Yes, they DO have a really cool rock sound. but that doesnt mean i think they are awesome or anything.

just an honest answer!, good question btw.

They sound like a severly watered-down Pearl Jam. I wouldn't consider them among the best of anything.
