Go to a hotel, a store, a mall. When a foreigner comes in, he or she get a warm greeting, but when a filipino comes in they do say a greeting but there's no warmth. it's like they just blurt it out because they were instructed to do it by management.

That is a very good question. People should be treated equally. They are most likely being nice to the foreigner because they know that they have money and will spend more money if they are warm and welcome.

Sadly, this happens in every country i have ever visited and the primary reason is MONEY!!. foreigners are a great source of revenue/sales, where as many local people do not have a lotof money.
if you go to india or egypt, you will see the same thing that you think is exclusive to your country (indifferance toward filipinos). also, your country is suffering from radical groups (sula isles) that may or may not want to "blow up" an area. i am sure that this is not the case in every part of the phillipines (this attitude), but it seems to be what you are experiencing.
even when someone is gruff or rude (here or abroad) to me i smile at them and it , oftens, confuses them into being nicer since "Honey gathers more flies than Vinegar". try it. Smile!!

Yes, I am a foreigner and I think that you should not take it personal. First of all, its only business.
If you had a business, you want people to spread the word and tell others. It helps the economy.

You don't want foreigners leaving the Philippines feeling bitter, fustrated and angry about their visit.

If that were to happen to many foreigners experiencing the same treatment. The word of "encouragement" will travel everywhere.

If you had visitors come to your house with valueable gifts, would you make them feel welcomed or make them feel like they don't belong in your house.

Its not wise to make foreigners feel unwelcomed especially if they have good intentions.

Correct me if I am wrong, Most frequent visitors like myself love and respect filipino people and enjoy the Philippines regardless of some of the ignorant individual characters we face sometimes.

ok, big P is right there. Businesswise, we have to treat customers the best as we could especially those we sensed having money, especially to a business catering to class A & B market.

it happens not only in the philippines but even among asians- asians towards asians. we care less about our own fellows. the thing here is, now that we're aware of that and somehow we're affected,we'd better start doing something about it.
