I put them in my sweatshirt and sweatpants pockets. Someone recommended this to prevent the shocks you get in the winter from static electricity. It actually works.

I don't recycle them, but in my city we have a green bin program for compost and for some reason we are supposed to put them in there, along with dryer lint.

Nope! I have used them many times for a quick firestarter. They don't last long, but have a quick hot flame.
Make sure they are already used - unused scented ones don't smell nearly as nice when they burn...
