Those local repair/auto shops.

I've own a 2001 Civic but my headlights assemblies are busted by some kids (I presumed, since I parked at an alley in my downtown area). I know that if I get a pair from the Honda dealers, they will just quote me their list price, which is expensive.

So, is it ok to order a new pair from my local/auto shops since they'll be cheaper? I've never dealt with them before and I've no idea where they're getting those pair of headlights from.

Two things you need to know:
You never know if these guys are good or not. Sometimes, you get a really good mechanic or autoshop that will be interested in what you want. Unfortunately, mroe often, these shops are willing to screw a few things up in your car while fixing the original problem in hopes of you coming back to them for more business.

For you however, it doesnt matter. Youo can trust what they are seeling to you, it will work. It will be considerably cheaper, and the quality should be above average.

Vandalism and possible shady auto shops. I assume you dont live in too friendly of an area.

Heres your options, youve got a few.

Go to the shady people and take your chance of where they get the parts from, if they are stolen parts, they can be tracked as nearly all parts have numbers on them leading back to the original car, though you can deny everything cause you really did not know. Most likely they are not stolen as those shops get the parts from wreaks.

Or you can go to your nearest auto parts store, buy a repair book for your car, read through it a bit on removal and installation of headlights, then go to your nearest junkyard and get a set to put in yourself.

Or, buy the book and at the same auto parts store buy aftermarket headlights and install them.

The choice is yours.

Yeah Ben, I got a pair from e-bay for 1/2 the dealer price. I've forgotten their name, western state though. Good Luck

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the parts yourself if they are offered at Autozone, OReilly, etc. You could check their prices to compare with the quote from the repair shop
