Technically, swinging is when a married or otherwise committed couple engage in sex with other couples or singles. So, based on that, if you are a single that regularly plays with couples, then you would also be considered a swinger.

No...in fact if you are a swinger and adopt that lifestyle, being alone just means you get more of the action, & there's no potential for jealousy from a partner.

Yes, that's where the "swinging is done". The person (s) outside of that relationship can be other couples having sex with each other's partners or just another person.
