We spayed our Lhasa Apso yesterday, and she has to waer a con e on her neck so that she would not like her wound. She is going crazy because of it, and I do not know hwat to do. She wants to lick the area, and I do not know if it is a sign of pain or is it normal? When will she get used to the cone? How long should I keep it on her?

I imagine she is going crazy. My dog knocked into everything he could when he had his duplo claws taken off and he had to wear that lampshade. Try not to frighten her. Remember she does not have all around vision, so always be with her when she goes outside. If you think she's showing signs of being in pain call the vet. The vet will tell you when he wants the cone off her. Don't take it off now or it will cost you dog more pain and discomfort than with it on.

keep the cone on her, you do not want her to lick at the incision!!! she will get used to the e-collar, just give her some time, it takes some dogs more time than others, whatever you do, dont freak out and take it off otherwise it will end up costing you more to have it fixed if she gets to it. Its completely normal that she wants to lick at it, if it wasnt the vet office wouldnt have sent you home with an e-collar. Keep it on her till she gets her staples/ sutures removed.

This is typical of the dog. They usually want to clean their wound. And having a lampshade on them is uncomfortable. Some dogs have been known to take the stitches out as well. n

i would keep it on her for about a week intill the incision starts to heal after i got my cat spayed i didnt have a cone on her big mistake she ended up pulling her stiches out both sets of them and it was a big headache she ended up having to go back and have it all repaired which is just more money out of your pocket and more stress on the animal but good luck with it

Her stitches are probably starting to itch her. She should continue to wear the cine until you take her into the vet to have her stitches removed. She will probably continue to lick the site because her fur growing back will also itch her.

Good luck.
