Socialism can't work...they have no resources to pool. Socialism can only work as temporary parasite on pre-existing capitalist structures...which socialism then proceeds to kill.

I think people are confusing socialism with communism... In any case capitalism is better for the economy, but seeing as Africa's population is so incredibly poor it might lead to exploitation on a massive scale. For example, child labour, long work days, horrible conditions different but not better than what they have now, the country's new wealth concentrated in the hands of a few rich greedy people with everyone else still suffering... Socialism is a compromise between communism and capitalism, it is definitely necessary to ensure decent living conditions. Pure capitalism wouldn't help Africa much... All developed countries practise socialism to a certain extent, especially Canada and Europe, even the USA does it (free public school = socialism!), so anyone who says socialism doesn't work is definitely misinformed and confusing it with communism...

africa should undoubtedly pursue capitalism. Socialists thoughts take away from individualism. thats the main part. Countries such as Africa already rely immensly on others. America is now leaning more towards socialism than Capitalism these days and things seem to be getting worse. While Europe is trying to head more towards capitalism. Capitalism is the answer.

Why would anyone choose Socialism? It was never meant to be a permanent system, even by it's creators. Socialism was designed to be a stage in the progressing goal to Communism. Neither one will ever work as proven many, many times throughout history. There is a reason the US is the richest and most powerful superpower. It's called Capitalism.

If you use America as the model for capitalism versus Europe with it's 30% unemployment rate, why would anyone chose anything but capitalism. Socialism has never worked, yet there are so many dorks in this Country who are slowing transitioning us to it.

Socialism is "From each according to ability, to each according to need.". Africa has dozens of different countries, each with their own problems. Often these problems have more to do with outside forces than how they run their government.

Both. One does not exclude the other. What is inherent in each one of us is that we are economically finite beings in our social communualistic activities. That means that both are within us all the way to whatever activity we entertain.
Or would you rather consider the concept commonly known as a dictatorship? Even they have to have both activities functioning to survive. It is the quality of life that increases or decreases the value of the system in effect.
