Ok this is a weird question but... like what would happen if there was 2 bassists in a band. instead of one?
(Cuz lots of times there are more then one guitarists in a band. so what is the true reason never more then one bassist?)
(Someone asked me this and i didnt know the real answer but my guess was maybe the bass sound would be too strong and possibly drown out the other instruments sounds....)

USUALLY, when you have two guitarists, one is playing lead and the other plays rythym. Bass lines are the backbone of these other parts and it was fairly rare until recently for the bass to take lead.

I suppose you could get some really interesting bass duels. You know how a lot of metal bands have super fast shredding duels between the two guitars? Well I don't see any reason not to take that down a few octaves and do the same thing with bass.
I think the reason there's only one bass but two guitars in most bands is that the bass has a really heavy, low sound and could easily overpower the melody if it's too loud.
But if it's done well nothing, no matter how weird, is wrong when it comes to music

The reason people add a particular instrument to a band is to lean towards a certain sound. Bass usually, along with other percussion instruments like the drums and tambourine, are used mostly for nailing down a rhythm track to add melody to.
With so few bass lead songs, this is not a serious issue. Though, seriously, if anyone could do this it would be the genius behind the band Primus, Les Claypool. If anyone would do double bass, it would be him.

you would hear 2 people playing bass. Unless they weren't playing at the same time. Theoretically everyone in the band could play bass. Like in This is Spinal Tap.

what would happen?
perhaps overkill ...Right many bands have more than one
guitarist.Mine had a dual lead guitar in it
Me and someone else
what happened was we complimented each others riffs
no more and no less.
I suspect with bassist(s) you would have to try it out
to see if it could work
I mean bands have two drummers
two rhythm guitars
two leads
why not two Basses
only way I know to find out is try it
and try to work something out i.e. work together
somehow

Uhh, I figure there'd be two bassist in an awesome Rock band??? lol... Of course, I had no clue that you had to have a specific amplifier for bass guitar rather a normal guitar until you told me... LOL!

It's not necessary, maybe for show. If you notice an orchestra, there may be several, but usually they are in sync. Multiple bass produce a more powerful sound.

I don't think it would work.
Unless they played at different times or like one was back up for the other.
But what would be awsome is if like they had a duel like in those hard metal rock bands!!!
