I accidentally downloaded 3 trojans. I deleted them, but they had installed a toolbar on my IE7 browser that I cannot make disappear. I tried going to the 'reset' button, but It kept saying that I had to close all the windows before doing this. What the heck is going on??? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

Also, there are these 2 icons in my taskbar that I believe to be related to the virus... But since the virus is gone (as I read in another question) they should disappear. How can I get rid of these???

PS: Deleting the program on add/delete programs doesn't work.

THANK YOU!

when you go to delete it with add/delete programs, a box called rAttention! pops up and tells me to restart my computer before using this software.

Please help me, I have all my important papers on this computer!

Starting from scratch is not an option...
I'll get my dad to help me understand HiJackThis.

The icons on the taskbar just flash fake SYSTEM ALERTs at me, but it's really annoying.
And I can't disappear the bar yet.

Please star this so someone can help me!

Thanks all so far!

jeff_elsten has some sound advice. You should download HijackThis! and run the program. Choose the "Scan and Create Report" option, then post (using copy/paste) your HJT! log on the TomCoyote Forums. They will be able to help you find the registry entry for the toolbar and will walk you through the removal process.

get a program called HiJack This!
Also get an antivirus (Norton, McAfee, AVG)
disable System Restore
restart your computer in safe mode
run hijack this and then the antivirus
restart your computer in normal mode
run the antivirus

Norton will not show a threat. restart the computer in safe mode. THEN run the antivirus

There is only one real way to fix Computer. Take the disk that came with your Computer put it in and do start fresh.
P.S. You will have to back up your files that you want before you do this on a cd-rw or some kind of disk that not on the Computer.
I do this 1st a month so my Computer is very fast.

!Easy way out of this just do System Restore!

delete it from your hkey local in your registry. if you dont know what im talking about.. format your drive. if you dont know how to do that.. then dont even bother trying to remove the virus's. take it to a tech repair and give them a bill to either format or remove the virus. trojans like to attach themselves to anything they can.. so the original file you dl may not have the virus anymore but it could be hiding anywhere and everywhere on your pc. dont use attachments on email to anyone that isnt computer savvy as well or more than likely they can recieve this virus as well. i dont have any antivirus software on my comp. it slows it down. i am my antivirus. youve got to know what to dl and what NOT to dl. good luck.
