There was:
Sword
Juno
Gold
Utah
Omaha

Now why were they called this, and whats the reasons behind each one. Sword and Gold seem pretty simple but there might be more too it. Juno I have no idea on, and the last two are american states or cities but again, might be more too it.

Sword, Juno and Gold were the British and Canadian beaches and Omaha and Utah were the American.
There is no significance in the names other than they are easy to distinguish from each other in the heat of battle.
Omaha and Utah were probably chosen because the were familiar words for the Americans.
Each beach was further divided into sections alphabetically and then further divided by color.
So the part of the beach where the Americans managed to break through the German defences at Omaha was called Omaha Dog Green. This made it easy for the commanders to pinpoint various areas when calling for reinforcements

Code names are chosen from a randomized list. Therefore there is no actual rhyme or reason to the names. I assume it was just a fluke that the US got Utah and Omaha.

It was primarily in order to make sure the Germans never knew what the beaches were going to be, if they somehow found out about the Operation

There isn't any connection. That is the whole point. They are chosen at random to ensure some "encryption" security.
