Her eyes looked down on me, upon my sorrow

As my soul lies on its death bed

Lost in regret, I Could not change

"I will stand strong in every way"

Nothing but a lie to myself, step by step

Closer to destruction

When I try to turn away from that image

I have failed, those created in my own image

I have crumbled

I say in a small and frail voice, I say

I will not fall and under the pressure of her gaze, I

say

I will not fall x4

I will not crumble x4

This ethic must permeate every aspect of

my life, not just those that come with ease

Rise above, regain control

Tear away from that image

This "one time" has become a habit

and will no longer be found within me

I say again, this time with much

conviction and sincerity

I will not Fall x4

I will not crumble x6

It sounds like someone got hurt by the other person and they've made a determination to leave and forget the other person but they can't especially when they look into the other person's eyes (they fall right back in love all over again, but it's hopeless because the person doesn't love them back) So they are torn between their feelings and the reality of the situation and hating themselves for not being able to break free. The person has hurt them terribly but they do not know how to let that person go.

It sounds like somebody was getting by in a relationship by pretending to be somebody else. His facade fell apart, and now he wants nothing to do with the pretense.

UPDATE: After reading the following answers, I can see that it could be about addiction. Drugs, video games, a girl, it's about addiction to *something*.

i agree it seems to be about him puttin on a persona to be what a woman wants him to be. Then something terrible happening and was caught or was sick of tryin so hard to be someone else.

the more i read it i wonder if its not about him cheating and the falling under her gaze being the gaze of the "other woman" if that makes sense. hope that helped

I think the lyricist is on his deathbed and is repenting for the life he had lived. But he is consoling himself that in my next life i will try my best to get what i want. His beloved is standing beside him wathing him die with pain in her eyes.Though he knows he can`t live more yet he is optimistic that in his next life he will again live with her beloved and hopfully a happy life.[THIS IS WHAT I COULD GET FROM IT AND I AM SORRY IF I AM WRONG]

NO, it's DEFINITELY about drug addiction. No question.

'This "one time" has become a habit' Every drug addict and alcoholic I've ever known has said over and over "just one time".
