I know of some schools in Australia that phone or text message parents if their child is absent from class. It is then up to the parent to confirm that the child is sick or absent for a reason. If you are having a problem with your daughter maybe talk to her school and see if this is a possibility? If she is a teenager there are a whole lot of trust issues that could come from this so tread carefully!!

Try, contacting the school and asking for a copy of your daughter's attendance records. I also think you should discuss your concerns with the principal her homeroom teacher. Request the school call you whenever she is absent....I'm assuming she is in high school.
Good Luck!

trying talking to the School Administration. The school can be sued for liability by YOU if they have marked her present when in fact she is absent. So, they will really want you to notify them that you suspect she is playing hooky. Also, best advice, go in person!

Well, good luck. I spent years fighting and losing that battle. In the neighboring school district, there was virtually no truancy, but in ours, it went unchecked and unreported to a large degree.

Call the school and find out if she has missed any days, you should keep track of the days you let her stay home. Also the amount of days missed should be printed somewhere on her report card!!

Our schools call home if your child doesn't show up and they didn't get a parental call. If yours doesn't automatically, I assume you could ask them to. You could also check periodically and see if they show any absences. They should be thrilled she has a parent who cares.
