Yes Definitely. I've got an 18 year old step daughter who is only 13 years younger than me. And the differences between us is unbelievable! My twin girls are 15 months old now, I wonder what they will be up to at 12!

I think teenagers are reaching sexual maturation faster, largely because of a high fat diet (that will predict cancer for many of them later on).
But sexual maturity and psycho-social maturity are not the same thing.
For example, look at the number of homework assignment questions that are posted on this site in the hope that someone will supply cheap and easy answers.
So you've got a bunch of 14 year olds with the body's of 18 year olds and the social skills and outlooks of 10 year olds.
Growing up faster? no way.

I think its the same just differant things influencing todays kids. Peer pressure, and school were just as important then as now. Also there were fads etc. Plus many kids had to help out around the house more then today. Personally I think todays generation is a bit more lazy. Oh, and I'm one of them.- Under 40 and not nearly as driven as my parents were at the same age.

Oh my gosh, yes! They are exposed to so much more. Look who they have for role models. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, It is really so sad. I think teenagers has so much more fun back in the fun days. Now they are so pressured into drugs, sex, etc. It is almost impossible to be decent. You know back in younger days, you stood out if you were a bad girl. Now days you would stand out if you are good. I mean standing out in a negative way for both ways. That is so sad to me. I wish it were like the old days. A tough time nowdays for raising kids, how scary it is.

im only 21 and even i say the kids are well to advanced for there age . they are no longer small kids at the age 10 , they are mini teenagers wearing make up, going out in mini skirts and having boyfriends , its mad.

Wasn't it 1967 forty years ago? Drugs, half naked hippies, Vietnam. Kids have it easier today with computors, celll phones and not having to worry about being drafted and sent to Vietnam.
