Umm Mystic deary? When you leave your job at Circle K, I would like for you to go home and have a turkey sub. Those plants are mad at you! Ever heard of a Mimosa, the leaves turn away from negative stimuli. V.Flytraps move based on touch. So how do you know that your still very much alive head of lettuce isn't silently screaming, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! At least meat has been humanely executed.(but as an animal science major I have some issues with the beef and poultry industry, but that's for another lesson) Your food still has life in it.
All veggies beware, for if your future lies with mystic, then noone will hear your silent screams.

I had frog's legs before & we had snails on our wedding night. They were called something, I don't remember, but I found out later -- At the table - that they were snails. They were tasty, though. We liked them. A 2nd "FIRST" for that day!

OK I'm a vegetarian & its my lunch hour now but reading thru the answers makes me sick ! Ppl ! How can you'll eat these living creatures ! I never imagined they could be eaten.
