i'm turning 18 sometime later this year, and i don't think i want to have a party that's too formal - with people wearing gowns and suits and all that... can you give me some alternatives? (and no swimsuit parties, please)... also, aside from the 18 candles, roses, and treasures, what else can you suggest? a friend of mine who just celebrated her debut did 18 shots (people described her, made a wish, and then drank a shot of tequila)... any other ideas? nothing too fancy or expensive, by the way... thanks

Before your party, have someone video tape you answering personal questions. At the party play the video one question at a time and have people answer what they think you said. Everytime someone gets the right answer they drink a shot. You also find out who knows you the best.

Kyra, the thing that you have to consider is yourself. If you want to have a party announcing to the world that you have arrived, then what are you saying? What I mean is, if I came to your party would it be a comfortable party, a dressy party, would it be full of strangers or your closest friends and the people that have helped shape you into who you are today. Are you a buffet or a sit down dinner person. People should remember your party for what is says about you. Let your personality shine during your party.

Believe or not a sleepover would be fun. have the party first and then let your girlfriends spend the night watching all your favorite movies and listening to all the music you liked while growing up. do all the old dances you use to do and eat ice cream sundaes for breakfast. i hope you guys don't drink any alcohol, it'll ruin the party and you might not remember it.
