These guys are right. At an auto action last week, here in GA, a '97 cbr900r sold for $2200. & at least the buyer was able to look it over. Honda's 900R is an awesome RACEbike.

The blue book value of the bike is $5215 and it says the average mileage for a 1999 bike over 750 cc would be 34500. But that mileage still sounds pretty high. I just bought a 1999 Honda CBR 600 for $3600 and it has 21000 miles on it. Even thoiugh the Kelly Blue Book says that 34,500 is normal for a bike for that year and size it still seems pretty high but if the owner took really good care of it then it won't matter. It could have 3,000 miles on it but has been treated like crap. So there are a lot of variables.

I hate to bring bad news but 30,921 miles is a lot for a motorcycle. It is like having a car with over 100,000 miles. I think $3,800 is more than you should spend on that motorcycle being 8 years old with that high of mileage. You can get a 2 year old CBR with low miles for about $5000-$6000. Good luck, hope I helped.
PS
I would retract my bid and put the reason as "entered wrong amount" Most online auction sites require a reason for retracting a bid. One other tip, if you bid on an auction on Ebay, don't bid on something where the person selling an item has "0" feedback. I only do that on extremely rare occasions and if it is something that doesn't cost a lot. I mean if I'm taking a risk of loosing money on someone selling an item with "0" feedback I would want to loose more than $10 or something like that. $4000 is very risky.

There are so many good motorcycles for sale out there. I would not buy a bike that I could not see in person and know the condition and if they would not let you ride it, at least watch them ride it.. You can buy a lot of good bikes for that much money. and if it is your first bike I would recommend something more in the 400-600 cc size.

The CBR 900 is a nice bike but the mileage is way too high. You should look into getting a newer bike with less mileage even if it means less cc's.

That's alot of miles for a bike. When I used to ride,, 10,000 miles was considered rebuild time, you need to get more opinions though.
