Cruise control saves gas. This is because it is easier once a car is moving to keep it moving. But when you slow down and speed back up (put a load on it) the engine needs to work and there for require more gas causing less mpg.

On a level road it will save gas by maintaining a constant speed. On a hilly road, it will use more gas trying to maintain the constant speed. When going up a long steep hill a lot of the time the gas pedal will go to the floor and the transmission downshift to the next lower gear. If you were doing it manually, you'd let up on the gas and slow down a little to make the hill.

Generally it saves gas. However, it's best not to use it if you're in slippery weather as it may cause your wheels to spin. It will usually lower your gas mileage in very hilly or mountainous areas.

it depends on the kind of roads you're driving...if you're driving on somewhere where you go up and down hill often...probably it will waste more gas...but i tried to avoid cruise control as much as i could....when there's rain or snow---when the roads are wet....it can be very slippery and it happened to a lot of people before that the car will spin and even flip! so be careful!

Saves gas. Prevents you from speeding up and then have to slow down and speed up again.
