Whether reading, or seeing it on television--whenever one hears the words, "All-American", it's usually referring to a White person. I merely want to know why that is and whether you think it's politically correct.

Its called "BRAINWASHING". That's why we are called (I mean us minorities) Hispanic/African/Asian... and so forth-American... I've noticed this too. Only if a minority is fighting across the globe or its soprts and Olympics related then we can carry the title of American, otherwise we're seen as a "sub"-group.

Why is it when you see the description, "African American" it is usually a black person. White people can be from Africa, move to America and be called African American, right?

I think of All American as having openness of spirit and a sense of fun and adventure.
It is a spirit, an essence of a thing. Which is why we can have an all american sport, or car.

Because they're the majority.

An "All-African" will be black in most people's minds, even though there are white and Asian people in Africa, too.
