There are some very good discount outlets in San Ysidro, but if you don't like going to the border to shop, there are quite a few of them on El Cajon Blvd between 30th and 40th and another group on Broadway in Lemon Grove. A popular large discount store that's found through out the city is Big Lots. Here's another specific liquidator, from Lemon Grove:
GTM Wholesale Liquidators
7663 Broadway
Lemon Grove, CA 91945
619 460 2990

Take a look in the phone book under liquidation stores to find some of the best bargins, especially if you are handy at doing minor repairs.

If what you're after is factory outlet stores, there are two in San Ysidro, Las Americas and the San Diego Factory Outlet; one in Carlsbad and another in Alpine (http://sandiego.about.com/od/shopping/a/outlets.htm). Las Americas offers discounts with a Go San Diego card too (http://www.gosandiegocard.com/shopping/Shops-at-Las-Americas.html)

And don't forget to look at craigslist (http://sandiego.craigslist.org)
and San Diego Back page (http://sandiego.backpage.com/buyselltrade/classifieds)

In addition to the Outlet Mall at the border, there is also a really good Premium Outlet Mall in Carlsbad off of Palomar Airport Road and Camino Del Norte, just off I-5. There is also another outlet mall across the street from Viejas Casino up off I-8 east of Alpine.

I've never been to the Viejas Outlet mall. But I think the Las Americas Outlets at the border have the best deals, more so than Carlsbad. I'll probably drive down there this weekend even though I work right next to the Carlsbad Outlets.

The link below is where you can find information about them:
