major in addiction
this is one of my top interest but salary isn't as I would like.

major in psychology
another one of my top interest but I doubt I will commit to pursuing a PhD. Ive heard you can't get very far with only a BA and though it is a liberal arts degree, it is almost worthless

major in accounting
There are many opportunities and high earning potential with this degree. I am very organized and work well with numbers.

or should I consider any other majors?

I got my BA in Accounting. It's a demanding and financially rewarding career, but there aren't a whole ton of people who feel very passionately about it. Long hours the first 5-10 years of your career.

What would you want to do with psychology? Counselling and therapy? If so, you don't need a Ph.D. in psychology. I decided Accounting wasn't where I really wanted to be, so I went for a Master's in Social Work (MSW). It takes less than 2 years to get this degree and it's a terminal one, meaning once you have it you can practice psychotherapy, become a clinical social worker, etc. etc. I didn't want to be in college so long as to pursue a Ph.D., but now that I'm already here, I realize it's not that long of a time and I'm applying to joint SW/Psych Ph.D. programs because I'd like to teach and do research as well I've decided. I always wanted to do this therapy stuff and I'm so happy that I found a way to do it.

Go for Accounting if you want the money, but it's not very fun stuff for most of the people I talk to.

If working with people is what you want to do, major in Psychology and Social Work. With the BSW, you can get into an advanced standing position in the MSW programs and then it only takes a year to get the degree.

It is good you are asking these questions. I know of some people that go to college with no clear idea of what they will be except graduates.

Just to muddy your thoughts, consider who you will work with and what their problems are. Criminal lawyers get to hang out with a lot of criminals and victims. Doesn't sound fun to me. Addiction is a worthy field, but who will you work with? I have no idea what Psychologists do or who they do it with. Accountants work everywhere. Big companies, small town CPAs doing taxes in the mountains. A whole lot of range there in both income, and life style.

well, i'm a biochemistry/cell biology major and i find it very interesting. i am also minoring in psychology and maybe also music.

from the psychology classes i've taken. it is very interesting. you learn a lot about the world and it allows you to understand people better, which i think is very good in relationships. this also allows you to help many people. i like being around people so if i wasn't a premed...then i would probably want to be a psychologist. it is very interesting to me and you get to help a lot of people AND meet a lot of people. and keep in mind.....a lot of problems develop from emotions and thinking...even medical problems....that's why i wana minor in it. i think it's a great way to help out in the world and make a great difference!

so i say PSYCHOLOGY!!! :D
