L-tyrosine is not in thyroid medications L-tyrosine is a supplement that many who are hypothyroid take to help in the conversion of T4 into T3. If you are being tested for hypothyroidism, you may want to stop the supplement so that you can get a true reading. When testing for thyroid, always do so in the morning and find out what the TSH was. A morning TSH over 2.0 shows that the gland is slowing down. Over a 3.0, you should be treated with thyroid meds.
If you are hypothyroid, you need thyroid meds. Another person mentioned wild yam, this is for menopause symtoms, not for hypothyroidism. Plus, even wild yam is not to be used, USP progesterone cream is the correct cream and is supposed to be used for PCOS, menopause and PMS....not thyroid problems.
Supplements used for thyroid are L-tryosine, zinc, and selenium. Some people use iodine, but yu really need to know if you are iodine deficient first or you can set yourelf up for bigger problems withthe thyroid.
Below is a good thyroid site

By all means, see a doctor but please BEFORE taking a synthetic hormone for thyroid disorders do some research. Are you aware that once you start on this medication, you have to take it for the rest of your life? Do you know why this is so?
It is because the body will shut down the thyroid gland because it thinks it is no longer needed.
If it was me, I would see how the wild yam cream can help first. If you would like to know how to access a world class product such as this, please email me directly at leanne27@aapt.net.au as I believe I have found one.

Tyrosine appears in some vitamin remedies but there is no clinical proof that this amino acid is effective.
over the counter preparations may not contain thyroxine which is what you may have been referring to. Thyroxine makes the product a prescription drug (in the US).

Yes, I think so. But please do not take any medications. Go ask your doctor first because it might not be hypthyroidism.
