because that's the only way the engine gets any lubrication at all ,if you,ll notice there's no place to add oil to the crank shaft or anything in it,all it gets is from the gas and oil mix ,good luck i hope this help,s.

In a Four stroke Engine, the lubricating oil is supplied to the engine at the bottom of the engine and that place is called Crank case where the crank fetches the oil and supplies to the whole of the engine components........
In a two stroke engine, the reason why the oil is mixed with the fuel is that, the charge(Air-Fuel mixture) is pre-compressed by the crank itself and that pre-compressed charge(Air-Fuel mixture) and then it reaches the combustion chamber through inlet port in it. So there is no space in the 2-Stroke engine where you can add oil seperately as in the 4-Stroke If you have a look at the construction of a 2-Stroke Engine then you will understand everything clearly what i said....for further detail visit Howstuffworks.com...........NMN

On 2 strokes, the oil must be mixed with the gas, but with some newer and upscale ones the oil is injected by the engine itself, just to spare the owner the trouble. If there is a separate oil tank on your 2 stroke engine , then it will do the mixing and you don't have to. Some people prefer to mix the gas and oil themselves as they have had trouble with the injectors not working or they worry about them not working.
