This is an Acer aspire as5610-4537 laptop. It has the 945GM chipset. It seems that alot of notebook motherboards that support this chipset also support add on graphics cards. Even the manual for this perticular model lists the possibilty of it coming with a GeForce Go 7300 graphics card, so I figured I maybe able to add it later.. I dont know though. I was basically asking if anyone knows where to purchase these cards. Are they only available OEM to the manufacturers? All help appreciated

most video for laptops are soldered in place, if not integrated. there are some new external video adapters, but they require the use of another standalone monitor and so are not really portable or an upgrade per se.

it is possible if the video is a card and not integrated to have the solder undone and the card replaced, but not recommended. no way to be sure the new card will work with the existing hardware and it would void the warrenty.

be sure the slot you are thinking of is for graohics and not some other card :)

If you want advice on what graphics card to get for your laptop, you need to tell us more information about your laptop. Most of the time you need to get an upgrade from the manufacturer of the chassis of the notebook. There is no standard for notebook video cards.

Contact your manufacturer.
